Position Overview
Central Christian School is seeking a dependable and service-minded Facility Steward to support the daily cleanliness, readiness, and stewardship of our campus. This role is primarily responsible for cleaning and maintaining common areas, while also assisting with campus setup, light maintenance, safety, and operational support.
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment and understands the importance of behind-the-scenes work in supporting a Christ-centered school community.
Primary Responsibilities
Cleaning & Campus Appearance (Primary Role)
- Clean and maintain campus common areas, including hallways, restrooms, offices, staff areas, entrances, and shared spaces
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping surfaces, and disinfecting high-touch areas
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of facilities throughout the day
- Empty trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal
- Refill and maintain dispensers (paper products, soap, etc.) in assigned areas
- Assist with cleaning related to events, meetings, and high-use periods
(This position does not include primary classroom cleaning duties)
Facilities Support & Light Maintenance
- Perform routine facility walkthroughs to identify cleaning, maintenance, or safety needs
- Complete assigned light maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, basic fixes, minor adjustments)
- Assist with preventative care and upkeep of campus spaces, furniture, and equipment
- Use cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment safely and appropriately
- Maintain organized storage of cleaning supplies and equipment
Campus Setup & Operational Support
- Assist with furniture setup, breakdown, and room transitions for events and activities
- Support school events, meetings, and special activities with setup and teardown
- Help maintain orderly storage areas and campus workspaces
Safety & Security
- Follow safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment
- Post and observe safety signage (e.g., wet floor signs) as needed
- Identify and report safety hazards, facility issues, or equipment concerns promptly
- Assist with securing buildings, doors, and access points as assigned
- Use keys, codes, and access tools responsibly
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate clearly with the Campus Project Manager and facilities team regarding task completion and priorities
- Report unresolved issues or supply needs in a timely manner
- Work respectfully with students, staff, families, visitors, and volunteers
- Support training or orientation of new facilities team members as requested
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to support the mission and values of Central Christian School
- Dependable attendance and ability to follow direction
- Ability to perform physical work safely, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
Preferred:
- Experience in custodial, facilities, or maintenance support
- Familiarity with cleaning methods, equipment, and basic tools
